The fat or oil component present in oil-bearing crops is typically removed through solvent extraction or pressing techniques. Greenstock has experience in solvent extraction of oats, corn and grapeseeds using non-polar and polar solvents (hexane, isohexane, liquefied propane, methanol, ethanol, or isopropanol) to effect the removal of the fat or oil. Greenstock also is familiar with the full pressing of oil-bearing materials, particularly as it relates to corn germ and grapeseeds. The technique used to remove the vegetable oil in its crude form often results in the extraction of compounds that possess antioxidant properties. The Company also is familiar with the processes used to recover these high value compounds.
